Hi Sisters! Here we are at the beginning of a new year. We have some changes, as you can see. We are going a little high tech to help keep you informed about what's going on and help us connect with one another. We have some goals for the year and also want to let you know about changes to the old "Enrichment" program and how that will effect what we do.
First of all, as we are an ever growing ward, the need for us to get to know one another is a constant thing. Our Presidency take the opportunity to get to know each new girl by visiting her in her home. It has been a wonderful blessing! You, on the other hand, usually don't do that.
So, here's the challenge for everyone. Step outside of your comfort zone and go introduce yourself to a new face. Be the first to sit by soneone who is sitting alone, learn a new name every week. Now, many of our girls are tied up in Primary or Young Womens and most of you have little families and rush to and fro before and after. That's one reason why we have extra activities during the week. Come to them! Connect with the sisters! We have wonderful women in our ward of all ages and backgrounds. Some have lived here forever, others are brand new transplants and we all have something we can learn from each other.
OK, now for the changes in Enrichment. These are changes that the General Relief Society leaders gave us at the fall Women's Conference '09 and have been training us on.
* First of all, it is no longer called Enrichment. It is called what ever it is: a R.S. dinner, a workshop, a meeting, a class, etc.
* Some things we have done will no longer be sponsored by the Relief Society. To follow the guidelines we have been given by our Prophet, we will no longer have "Lunch Bunch", "Book & Movie Group", "Wild Bunch for Lunch", or "Empty Nesters". That is not to say you cannot go out to lunch or to a movie with your friends. We just cannot do it as a Relief Society activity.
* Often we will have multiple things going on at one activity so you can find something that suits your interests and needs. Because of tight budgets we will always have something you can do that is free. And of course there will always be visiting!
* We will still try hard to offer things you need, that build testimonies, develop skills, that strengthen you in your marraige, your family, your home, and provide service opportunities.
* We will meet monthly for larger get togethers but still have small things on a regular basis, too.
Really, it's not that different from what we were already doing. We were very close to "inline" with what our purpose and objectives are.
We are excited about the comming year and all the oportunities it offers! Pres. Morris
As a blogger, I love the new format! Looks like you are doing a great job and I am excited to be coming home and participating in ward activities again. See you soon! Sister Donna Elam
