Money Saving Tip: Be patient. Make it a practice to hold an item in your hands at least ten seconds before you place it in your cart and ask yourself, “Do I really need this?” The more an item costs, the longer you should take to answer the question. For a car or a large appliance, wait thirty days. Then, if you still want the item, it is probably essential. After thirty days the impulse to purchase nonessential items will usually pass.

Money Saving Tip: For an evening of family fun, teach your children the games you enjoyed as a child (or go back another generation and ask grandparents what games they played): kick the can, hula hoop, Red Rover, dodge ball, tag, Mother May I, etc.

Menu Idea: Looks like the week for salads—green salads, fruit salads, tuna salad, chicken salad. How about Broccoli Salad? Avoid cooking and stay cool!

Money Saving Tip: Shop once a week; avoid midweek “fill in” trips to the store with the temptation to buy more than you really intended.
